How do I register to vote or update my voting information?

New voter registrations, in-state voter registration transfers to Atkinson, address updates inside Atkinson, name changes and party changes can be done one of three ways:

  • Visit the Town Clerk’s during regular business hours up to 6-10 days before the election.  Be on the lookout for the Supervisor of the Checklist meetings meeting dates and deadlines.
  • Attend a Supervisors of the Checklist during one of their posted meeting sessions.
  • You may register or update your information at the polls the day of the election.

Requirements to newly register:

  • Proof of Identity (ex. driver’s license or passport)
  • Age -  must be 18 by the next election
  • Proof of citizenship (ex. birth certificate/passport - naturalized citizens must present their naturalization papers)
  • Proof of residency (i.e driver’s license or vehicle registration)

Registering to Vote in New Hampshire” provides further details on these requirements.

There are black-out periods for party changes before Primary Elections.

If you are registered as Undeclared, you have the opportunity to select either party ballot at the Primary Election.  You then become registered as that party upon choosing that ballot.  Should you wish to change back to undeclared, visit the Party Change table before leaving the Primary polling place.
